Chalk Wanderings encompasses three key elements. Abi will learn to make pigment from stone, in order to make a new series of paintings entirely made from local foraged materials. She will collaborate to create a rock-like sculpture that will be attached to a bespoke bike trailer. She’ll use this travelling sculpture in a participatory artwork to be cycled around Luton’s chalk hills in Spring 2026.
Visit Hat Works between 18th March and 29th May (Wednesday–Friday), to learn about Chalk Wanderings — an exhibition by Abi Spendlove exploring the significance of chalk in Luton through art and community.
